To do a proper safari circuit of, for example, Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge and the Serengeti, again needs a minimum of five days. Safari company prices vary widely, depending on the standard and reliability of the vehicles, the food and accommodation offered, and the number of people in your party.
There are a number of very good budget companies operating out of Arusha -- two of the favourites among backpackers are Roy's Safaris (PO Box 50, Arusha, ph 2854) and Hoopoe Safaris (Box 2047, ph 7011). A good place to organize a safari is from the Maasai Camp Site just outside Arusha on the Old Moshi Road.
